May Day 2 of Awareness

  1. Random weight loss/gain
  2. Shooting pain
  3. Tingling sensations
  4. Migrating of #2 and #3
  5. Extreme emotions with changes. Example: 0 to 60 with anger and/or sadness
  6. Depression
  7. Anxiety
  8. ADD/ADHD symptoms
  9. OCD symptoms
  10. Random fevers

  1. The oldest know human case of Lyme infection is 5,000 years old. The "Ice Man" was found well preserved in the Italian Alps.
  2. Because tests are so inaccurate, Lyme is still largely a clinical diagnosis.
  3. Most patients don't even remember a tick bite.
  4. Most patients didn't ever get a rash. Remember that rash? the one that is taught is the only sure sign of infection?
  5. Lyme is called the Great Imitator because of the meany symptoms that mimic other diseases and syndromes. Like on House M.D. where he states many times how it can't be Lupus, just because it looks like Lupus, because it is never Lupus. Just with Lyme instead of Lupus.
  6. Many people spend thousands of dollars befoe they find out they have Lyme. Most are given and subsequently, and harmfully treated for other things like MS, ALS, Parkinsons, Fibromyaligia, Asthma, depression, anxiety and many many more.
  7. By the time one figures out it is Lyme, finances are dire. Treatment is very expensive. One month of one of my meds is $1,300 out of pocket.
  8. We hear from doctors, friends, family, and even strangers that we aren't sick. It is all in our head. (While we may certainly have bacteria in our brains, I assure you, by the time it crosses the blood brain barrier it is in the rest of our bodies too.)
  9. #8 leads to self doubt, depression, anxiety, and isolation due to being left by those who were once our friends and even by family members.
  10. It is of the utmost importance that we find actual, real life Lyme Literate MDs to treat us. Consult ILADS to help find one.
